Katy Bradfield English Channel Crossing! Friday 18 July 2025

Kings Cormorants are so proud of Katy Bradfield completing her Channel Crossing! β˜€οΈπŸ’¦ πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŸπŸ’›

This historic swim is a gruelling 21-mile stretch of water between England and France and is one of the most prestigious and challenging open-water swims in the world. The journey is filled with cold temperatures, unpredictable weather, powerful tides and jellyfish and it became her dream to swim it. Katy’s boat pilot was Simon Ellis on High Hopes.

Katy was fundraising for Aspire, a spinal cord injury charity that supports people after their life changing injuries, helping them to live them full and independent lives.

Katy says: Thank you so much to all of you for all the support and messages. It was most definitely as hard as I thought it would be but I knew my training would pay off. The last 3hours approaching the cap were most definitely the hardest. The French currents were so strong, it felt like swimming on a treadmill and the French coast wasn’t getting any closer. I knew I had to really push hard to hit the cap as I didn’t want another 3-4 hours swimming if I missed it. It was the most incredible day and one I will never forget. I will see you all back at training when I can lift my arms again!
